Game Selection and Content Policy

At Helms Game Legacies LLC, we are committed to providing an exciting, safe, and enjoyable gaming experience for all participants. Our game library includes a wide variety of titles across all genres and rating levels, including games rated E for Everyone, T for Teen, and M for Mature. To ensure that our events are appropriate for all audiences, we have developed the following policies related to game selection, particularly regarding M-rated (Mature) content.

1. Overview of Game Ratings

  • E for Everyone (E): Suitable for all ages. These games may contain minimal cartoon or fantasy violence and no inappropriate content.

  • T for Teen (T): Suitable for ages 13 and older. These games may contain more intense violence, suggestive themes, or infrequent use of strong language.

  • M for Mature (M): Suitable for ages 17 and older. These games may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, and/or strong language.

2. Default Game Settings for Events Involving Minors

  • By default, at events involving minors (participants under the age of 17), M-rated games will not be made available without explicit parental or guardian consent.
  • All game trailers are pre-loaded with a selection of games rated E and T, which offer a wide variety of options to ensure an engaging and age-appropriate gaming experience for all players.
  • Parents or event organizers will have the option to review the list of available games in advance to ensure it aligns with their expectations for content.

3. Parental Consent for M-Rated Games

In the case that M-rated games are requested or permitted at an event where minors are present, the following process will apply to ensure responsible access:

A. Parental or Guardian Approval Process
  • Consent Form: Parents or guardians must provide written consent prior to the event allowing minors to access M-rated games. This form will clearly outline the nature of M-rated content and specify the games that will be available.
  • Digital Consent: Consent can also be granted electronically through our booking platform by acknowledging and agreeing to our content policy during the booking process.
  • Event Organizer Responsibility: If the event is booked by an adult on behalf of a group of minors (e.g., a parent or teacher), that individual must confirm that they have the authority to approve or deny access to M-rated content on behalf of the group.
B. Verbal Approval on Event Day
  • On the day of the event, our Game Coach will verify with the responsible adult (parent, guardian, or event organizer) whether M-rated games should be made available.
  • If verbal approval is not provided, M-rated games will remain locked and inaccessible throughout the event.

4. Age-Restricted Game Access Controls

To ensure compliance with the policy, our game trailers are equipped with access control features:

  • Password Protection: M-rated games are locked behind a password that only the Game Coach can unlock after receiving explicit approval from the responsible adult.
  • Game Coach Supervision: Our Game Coaches are trained to supervise game selection closely, ensuring that only approved games are accessible during the event. At no point will minors be able to access M-rated games on their own.

5. Custom Game Libraries for Specific Events

  • Pre-Event Game Selection: Event organizers or parents can review and pre-select the games that will be available during the event. This ensures full control over the content available to participants.
  • Game Library Customization: If there are any specific requests to include or exclude particular titles, we are happy to accommodate. We encourage event organizers to discuss game preferences with us ahead of time to create a tailored experience that matches the age group and preferences of the participants.

6. Event Type-Specific Content Controls

For certain types of events, additional restrictions may apply to ensure a positive and appropriate gaming experience:

  • Children’s Parties (Ages 16 and Below): Only E and T rated games will be available unless explicit parental consent is provided. Even with consent, we recommend limiting access to M-rated content depending on the group’s age.

  • Teen Events (Ages 17 and Above): For events primarily involving older teens (17+), M-rated games may be made available without restriction, as participants are legally allowed to play such content. However, parental guidance may still be requested based on individual preferences.

  • Mixed-Age Events: For events that include both adults and minors, M-rated games will remain restricted for minors unless parental consent is provided for the specific minors in question. Adults may have unrestricted access to M-rated games in such cases, as long as minors are not exposed to the content.

7. Communication with Parents and Guardians

We believe clear communication is key to a successful and worry-free event. We will take the following steps to ensure transparency:

  • Pre-Event Confirmation: Prior to the event, we will send a confirmation email to the event organizer that includes a summary of the games that will be available during the event and information about our M-rated game policy.
  • On-Site Communication: Our Game Coach will confirm game selections with the responsible adult on the day of the event, ensuring everyone is aware of the content policies in place.

8. Violations and Enforcement

  • If a minor gains unauthorized access to an M-rated game without parental consent (for example, by playing on another participant’s account), the Game Coach will immediately intervene and switch to an appropriate game.
  • Continuous violation of game content rules by participants may result in the removal of M-rated games for the remainder of the event, regardless of prior consent.

9. Refunds and Disputes

  • No Refunds for Content Restrictions: If parental consent for M-rated games is not granted and minors are limited to E and T-rated games, no refunds or discounts will be issued for content limitations.
  • Disputes: Any disputes regarding the game selection during the event will be handled promptly by our Game Coach. If a resolution cannot be reached, we will follow up with the event organizer after the event to address any concerns.

10. Policy Changes

Helms Game Legacies LLC reserves the right to update this policy at any time. We will notify clients of any changes to our game selection and content policy before their event date.

  • During Booking: You can provide your consent by checking the opt-in box when making a booking request or during account creation.
  • Promotions & Events: You may opt-in separately for promotional or event-related messages during the booking process or via our website by checking the designated opt-in box.

4. Message Frequency

  • Booking-related messages: Sent as needed based on your requests.
  • Promotional/Event messages: Typically 1–3 messages per month.

6. How to Opt-Out
